A guy came into our studio about a month ago and approached our team (presumably knowing full well of our unhealthy obsession with robots)... he asked us to do some concepts for a robot that would present a channel four documentary that was actually going to be made using a combination of puppetry and robotics... He wanted a 'bot' that an audience could empathize with, without it looking at all human... The deadline (he said) was the following monday, and it was already friday... These concepts I started 2am Monday morning... well I had to work on the film so... After a long haul of caffeine and really rather rushed speed painting, I sent them in, just before the alleged deadline. After finding out that the real deadline wasn't until Thursday, it turns out that my designs weren't what he was looking for at all and unfortunately I didnt have time to do anymore. The feedback I got was that it wasnt human enough!! Arghh! After patronizingly being asked whether 'I would like another go', I said good bye and continued slogging at the layouts!

This is the first post of the first blog of my life... I have never really considered getting one up till now, but my friends assured me of the benefits. The images you see here are two early concepts for the city in which my animated grad film is to be set... The gray scale and really dark tones are something me and my team mates have always wanted to go for, inspired by the styles of film noir and early black and white films. This also saves time on colouring ;)
Im going to start putting all the recent work I have done up here on this page. Its not like I've just done it, these are in fact from about 4 or 5 months ago now, but up till now Ive been using http://kotagiri.deviantart.com. Should be fun... K take care, Swin ;)
